Who runs the site, how the math is built, and what we do when something is wrong.
1031ExchangeCalc is built around one idea: give you accurate numbers, not a sales pitch. This page explains who runs the site, how the calculators are built, and the sources behind the figures.

1031ExchangeCalc is run by Chris Terry, who builds and maintains the calculators and is responsible for the accuracy of everything on the site.
Every calculator uses published formulas and current federal figures. We test the math, note our assumptions directly on each tool page, and update when rates or rules change. Nothing you enter is stored. All calculations run in your browser.
Figures and explanations are grounded in IRS Section 1031 rules and published capital gains rates. Where state rules vary or change annually, we flag it and link to the authoritative source so you can check the current figure yourself.
The goal here is accurate information, not product placement. Some links are affiliate links that may earn a commission at no cost to you. They do not change the math or the recommendations. Found an error? Tell us and we will fix it promptly.
